Karasu ga Oshiete Kureta Koto Radio Drama (2025)

A radio drama in honor of the 80th anniversary of death of Japanese lyricist of children's songs Noguchi Ujo.

Kai, a high school student in his final year, had wished to attend a university in Tokyo to pursue his passion of photography further, but is now wavering due to his grandfather struggling with dementia and internal conflict.

Here's an introduction segment from Iba6, a local news program for Ibaraki Prefecture, in which they introduce the radio drama! There's a Motoki interview as well. You can skip it if you don't want to get spoiled, but there are no major spoilers.

Noguchi Ujo's songs still remain extremely popular in Japan and often dominate many rankings. Many of them are taught at young age and have an educational value. The three songs featured in this drama were Shabondama, Kogane Mushi, and Nanatsu no Ko. Here they are in the same order:

My translation of these songs borrows parts from official translations and fan translations.

It was my first time subbing a radio drama and I really loved this one. There are so many sections that are my favorite. Let me know in the comments if you have any! I love that Motoki is giving me more human drama as it's my favorite genre. Hope he does another audio drama in the future. His voice is perfect for narration.

I've also finally managed to get my subbed Gekokujou Selection clips working!! You can find them over at Motoki's page. If there's any other Motoki content you'd like to see subbed, feel free to contact me anywhere.

Note: Earsubbed, so there may be errors.
