Swing Girls: Side Story (2004)

Side stories that serve as a prequel to the movie.

Quick navigation

I already shared two of these on Tumblr, but if anyone's interested, here's more (probably not anyway like with my other flops with under 2 views here since everyone has already watched these). There are seven of these in total. I originally subbed the Fukushi Seiji one, but decided to work on three more since they were short and easier to sub. If anyone's interested in seeing the rest subbed, feel free to leave a comment or let me know elsewhere. Those will take a bit more time.

Also, there's no poster for these, so this one will do for now. These side stories were a part of the premium edition DVD release, but you can also find them on YouTube where they are still up. If you have better quality raws to share with me, I'd really appreciate that as well!

Note: Earsubbed, so there may be errors. I'm no expert on Yamagata dialect, but it should be mostly correct from what I could make out. I improvised a bit on some lines, but it should get the main points across.

Swing to Swing

Explaining the animosity between Takuo and Inoue (the baseball club member).

The original title is a "スイング to スウィング"  which is basically two ways how to write swing in Japanese. These days it's more common to use スウィング to refer to swing jazz, but スイング is also acceptable. スイ (sui) form is older Japanese and was used to create words without truly mimicking the "swi" since Japanese doesn't have that. スウィ (suwi) form is the more modern form that more closely resembles the original "swi".

Holiday

Focuses on the Naomi, the girl who wants to lose weight.

Monkey Girl

Explains how Ueno Juri's character came to have the computer.

Dead or Delivery

Explains why the lunch delivery was delayed.

Not sure about the 52 min. line here. I did hear 52, but I feel like it could be wrong :/ I wanted to delete it, but I forgot in the end.
