Sayonara wo Kimeta Hi (2023)

Satoshi, gay man living with his partner, suddenly receives a phone call regarding his estranged mother. He's forced to look back on the past.

First off, let me rant a bit.

These past few months, I haven't even felt like sharing anything thanks to constant reuploader(s). I'm a kind person who doesn't talk badly about others publicly, but these people haven't been kind at all. It started off with someone who reuploaded my subs to nyaa (a public torrent tracker). Not sure why anyone would do that when all my subs are perfectly accessible on my site. I don't lock anything behind a paywall. I've always tried to provide the best quality of videos as well. So I don't get the reasoning behind that. If they wanted to reupload a specific project, they could have asked me? It felt so strange to see my subs uploaded on a site that people monitor like hawks. Seems like this reuploader has now kinda stopped, though? I wonder why considering they seemed like they wanted to upload every LGBTQIA+-themed project out there on that torrent tracker, but they barely even scratched the surface with what they uploaded. Most of those torrents will die quickly anyway, so I really don't see the point. Plus, they were reuploading stuff from avist*z (a private torrent tracker) on there, so... I wonder how that flies with people posting there.

After that, I found out someone by the name of "mitoses" had been reuploading my subs to a site subdl.org which is a site similar to the former subscene. Just like the nyaa reuploader, they were also uploading subs that I posted on Tumblr.

I really dislike someone reuploading my stuff because most of my projects are earsubbed, and if I figure out some line later or realize a mistake, I can never correct it if it's wrong on a site I can't reach.

I've always made everything public and open for anyone, so people interested could link to my site and watch for free. Considering that most people don't even leave a comment for some of my projects, which is totally free, and doesn't take much effort, it's really heart-breaking to see such treatment. Even though I had to replace my last comment plugin for something that requires more effort now, it's still very much possible to make a comment easily.

A few days ago, there was another reuploader who uploaded a batch on my projects on avist*z. Supposedly, a user with the name of "blackpearl25" who edited the TMDB data. I'm really happy they added the projects to TMDB since I'm lazy to do that myself, but I never expected they'd even add my tiktok tsunasora drama? This must be either my biggest fan or something else.

Why are these people suddenly interested in my obscure projects that usually only I care about? Is it because I posted Dousoukai? If so, I hope they are happy because now it's delayed because of them. That's really sad because I was so excited to finally finish it as it's a project I really hold dear.

Were they thinking they were doing me some sort of service? I'm not dying just yet for everything to be lost media. They never got my permission to reupload either. I never thought someone would reupload the stuff I sub (well, apart from sonokoi and wakadanna-sama).

Do people really want me to post in a locked livejournal community that no one will be able to join? I don't know why people don't have the basic decency to ask someone beforehand. They might be surprised by my answer. People always assume the worst of people. Even if these reuploads weren't malicious, it still hurt to see them. It'd be nice if any of these people reached out to me if that's the case. It's quite sad to see that people forgot how easy it is to talk to someone.

I don't think my subs are perfect in any way and I still have a lot to learn (and it's lifelong process), but I always try my best. I'm a bit of a perfectionist in that I QC my projects too much, paranoid of grammar or spelling errors. That's why I'm not so fond of reuploads. I wish people were more respectful to my efforts considering I've been really struggling with just existing thanks to my sciatic nerve constantly irritated, and my teeth issues.

In the end, what did I even get from all those reuploads? Did more people watch more projects? Maybe, yes, a few. But there hasn't been any new comment from those people, or people reaching out to me in other ways, so I wouldn't even know. It had an opposite effect and it's really discouraging. I'm all for sharing with others, but this isn't the way to go about it.

Anyway, thank you for reading my rant if you made it this far.

I hope you enjoy this lovely short movie that I had the pleasure of subbing. I'm back to sharing now, but it will be with logos now.

Cast:

  • Tozuka Junki as Fujimoto Satoshi
  • Watanabe Makiko as Fujimoto Hikari
  • Yuya Shintaro as Hiroyuki
  • Takao Yuki as Yokota

Note: Earsubbed, so there may be errors.

The final scene of the short is largely improvised by the actors.
