Ghoul (2016)

Kouta and Yousuke, who were once friends in high school, drifted apart after a certain incident. They're reunited when Yousuke invites Kouta to stay with him at a Western-style holiday home deep in the forest. After they arrive, they discover other people were lured there, and find themselves trapped inside. The only escape seems to be to confess their sins.

I know most people will probably hate this, but I subbed it for Keisuke, so I don't mind if no one watches. I'm not used to a lot of people watching anyway, so it's fine. I'm sure there's someone who will appreciate this movie since it's darker and unique. It's part of history, and related to the other semi-horror/death game movies that came out during that time. If you liked Keisuke in this movie, you should check out his other project I subbed.

The title of this movie was kinda hard to translate and it has several interpretations depending on how you want to look at it. After the title "ghoul", there's the clarification inside the square brackets. It uses the kanji for devouring/eating/consuming 喰 and the kanji 怨 for resentment/grudge. So it's like the ghoul itself is a beast that feeds on resentment, or the grudge is all-consuming. There are definitely a lot of interpretations since this is a made-up word. I translated the subtitle as "For a century, you have taken over my mind" as in their only thought was satiating the resentment they felt.

If you're curious about all the French words, it's obviously because of the director.
